Atlanta & Savannah

Atlanta...

Building on the success of the 1996 Summer Olympics, Atlanta has awakened to opportunity, optimism and openness. Atlanta’s thriving neighborhoods, cutting-edge architecture and cultural diversity will reshape your perceptions of the South. This Georgia peach is a big city with Southern hospitality.

Atlanta, the “Capital of the South,” is the transportation and commercial hub of the Southeast region of the United States, and its international airport is the busiest in the world. Service, communications, retail trade, manufacturing, finance and insurance industries lead its economy. Many major corporations such as Home Depot, CNN, Coca-Cola and UPS are headquartered in Atlanta. The city is also home to the largest aquarium in the world, the new Georgia Aquarium.

Even with a population of more than five million, Atlanta’s convention business is also important. The city boasts excellent conference venues and more than 90,000 hotel rooms in the metropolitan area. Atlanta offers a wide range of options that ensure it is the premier destination for every attendee and all types of programs.

Professional sports teams generate city spirit. The Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Thrashers create pride from the field to the ice. No matter the sport, the season, or the opportunity … in Atlanta, every day is an opening day.

The Fox’s 4,678 seat theatre is booked more than 300 performances a year ranging from Broadway to rock to comedy to movies. In December 2009, Billboard Magazine ranked the Fox Theatre in Atlanta as "The #1 non-residency venue worldwide for the decade (5,000 seats or less)."
  • The Fox Theatre is located on Peachtree Street in the middle of the city. Not only is it on the National Historic Register, but it is one of the most beloved landmarks in the city because it is a real memory maker for the citizens of Atlanta.  The Fox holds a special place in many people’s hearts, and they take that responsibility very seriously. We call it "The Fox Experience.”

Savannah...

Since her founding in 1733, Savannah has been one of America’s favorite destinations for business and pleasure. Today, she attracts nearly seven million visitors every year, sparking seven million cases of love at first sight.

Located in the heart of Coastal Georgia's Low country, Savannah is a city of rare natural beauty—of azaleas in bloom and stately oaks draped with Spanish moss. These landscapes have been lovingly enhanced by two centuries of manmade splendor, from her distinctive park-like squares and cobblestone streets to the magnificent architecture of her storied antebellum homes and churches.

Such is the beauty of Savannah that General Sherman spared her the torch during his March to the Sea. Instead, he presented her to an enthusiastic President Abraham Lincoln as a Christmas gift.

When you present Savannah to your group as the site of their next meeting, we believe they will be thrilled too. And their excitement will grow when they discover Savannah’s exceptional accommodations and facilities, delightful cuisine, unique attractions and vibrant nightlife.

There is no other city quite like Georgia’s first city, Savannah.

Only in Savannah!

Take a journey back more than 275 years when you travel to Savannah’s Landmark Historic District. From the moment you enter one of the 22 shady public squares designed by General James Oglethorpe, to the instant you glimpse the Forsyth Fountain, you’ll know why it’s still one of the largest historic landmarks in the country.

Tour some of Savannah’s oldest mansions such as the Owens-Thomas House and the Mercer House, made famous by the novel "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.” Experience Civil War life firsthand at Old Fort Jackson and Fort Pulaski, and witness the daily cannon firing demonstrations that take place each summer.

Visit the historic Roundhouse Railroad Museum and conduct your way through the seven different railroad structures dating all the way back to the 1830’s. Attend a worship service at the home of the oldest African-American congregation in America, First African Baptist, which once served as a stop on the Underground Railroad.
